Town of Moffat Monthly Excise Tax Reporting Procedures

Congratulations on becoming a business owner in the Town of Moffat!

As part of the marijuana cultivation or manufacturing industry, you will be required to file a Town of Moffat Excise Tax Return each month for sales generated the month prior. You will need to file your Excise Tax Return regardless of whether or not you owe taxes, whether or not sales generated, or whether or not your business is up and running at this time.

Upon receipt of your Local Business License, you are expected to fill out and return an excise tax form each month. The Excise Tax Return Form is on the website for your convenience. Your form and payment (if applicable) is due on the 20th of each month for the prior month's sales. If the 20th of the month lands on a Sunday or holiday in which the Town Hall is closed, you will need to have your forms and payment returned by the next available business day.

The Moffat Town Hall is open Monday - Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, unless posted otherwise.

Excise Tax Returns are only accepted by: in person delivery, mail, or fax. Electronic delivery such as email will not be accepted due to security purposes. Payments will only be accepted in person or via mail. You will also need to submit a copy of your Colorado Department of Revenue Reporting form with your Town of Moffat Return. If you fill out the contract price section of the excise tax form, you will need to provide proof of your contract by submitting a copy of your contract.
